Oki-Napi – that’s “welcome” in the language of the Blackfoot – to Head-
Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. Forcing the beasts to stampede off cliffs was
the most effective way to hunt and was practiced right here for thousands
of years. Find out why the site’s frightful name does not refer to buffalo at
all, but to a foolhardy young Blackfoot. The bison are long gone but the
site remains, preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
