Mr. & Mrs. Karl L. Jenkins of Stanley, after losing their 4 year old daughter Alma Frances on 08
January, sustained another crushing blow on Sunday when their daughter Elsie Blanche, aged
nine was taken away after a brief illness by the same virulent disease that had proven fatal to
the young sister. Elsie Blanche would have been nine years old on the 31st of this month. The
loss of the children attributed to acute septic influenza. The blow is all the greater because
Mrs. Jenkins' father W. A. Blose of near Harrisonburg died only a few weeks ago. Their surviving
children are Louise Agnes age 11, Aurolia Claire age 6 and Karl Lester age 2. Mr.
Jenkins is assistant principal of the Stanley High School and is the son of the Eld. John B.
