Business: BTEC Introductory
Diploma
This course is aimed at students who are interested in
making a career in business. It will suit those hoping to
improve on their Year 11 results and enter further study,
or move directly into training or employment.
Course details The course is made up of eight units. You
will have the opportunity to study the different types of
jobs and organisations in business, customer service and
communication skills.
How is it assessed? All units are internally assessed by
teachers on the course. Each unit is assessed using the
grading criteria of Pass, Merit and Distinction. All units
have to be completed to achieve at least a Pass level.
Course duration One year full-time.
What do I need to study this subject? You should have
BTEC Entry level and/or you must be able to show an
active interest in business at interview.
Where can this lead me? Students can progress to a
BTEC First qualification in Business, work or vocational
courses such as secretarial qualifications.
What are the enrichment opportunities? Each student is
expected to undergo work experience to see at first
hand how the real world of business is conducted. Trips
and visits include a trip to France or Belgium, Thorpe Park,
Harrods, Bluewater and Lakeside shopping complexes,
and Coca-Cola manufacturing plants.
