mills), who settled in America, possesses the official matriculation<br />
of arms similar <strong>to</strong> those granted in 1673 <strong>to</strong> Robert Maitland by<br />
Lyon King.<br />
COLONEL RICHARD MAITLAND of the 3rd Foot Guards, said<br />
<strong>to</strong> belong <strong>to</strong> the family of Soltra, was appointed ensign in the<br />
regiment in the service of Holland, commanded by Colonel<br />
James Maitland, by commission dated at Namur i5th July<br />
1695. He married (first) Margaret Allan, and had issue<br />
1. Robert Richard, served heir <strong>to</strong> his brother Henry, loth<br />
April 1738.<br />
2. Pelham, also served heir <strong>to</strong> his brother, died at Edinburgh<br />
7th September 1795, having had issue Thomas Pelham,<br />

4. Henry Smith, died before loth April 1738.<br />
5. Elizabeth, married Sir Gilbert Grierson of Lagg.<br />
He married (second) Elizabeth, daughter of James Bell in<br />
Glasgow, niece of Robert Bell, writer, Edinburgh, and had<br />
issue<br />
6. James, served heir <strong>to</strong> his mother, grandfather, and granduncle<br />

Sir James Dalrymple, first Viscount Stair (Wood's Douglas's<br />
Christian married Thomas Dunbar<br />
