May Allah have mercy on a woman who gets up at night and prays, and<br />
awakens her husband; if he refuses, she would spr<strong>in</strong>kle water on his<br />

Ali reports that the Apostle <strong>of</strong> Allah (peace be upon him) used to say at<br />
the end <strong>of</strong> his witr: "O Allah, I seek refuge <strong>in</strong> Thy good pleasure from<br />
Thy anger, and <strong>in</strong> Thy forgiveness from Thy punishment, and I seek<br />
refuge <strong>in</strong> Thy mercy from Thy wrath. I cannot reckon the praise due to<br />
Thee. Thou art as Thou hast praised Thyself."(Abu Dawood)<br />
Abu Dhardar reports that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: One <strong>of</strong><br />
the supplications <strong>of</strong> David was: Allah, I beg <strong>of</strong> Thee Thy love and the<br />
love <strong>of</strong> those who love Thee, and such conduct as should lead me to<br />
Thy love. Allah, make Thy love dearer to me than my soul and my<br />
family and dearer than cold water. (Tirmizi)<br />
Anas heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: Allah, the<br />
Exalted, has said: "O son <strong>of</strong> Adam! Certa<strong>in</strong>ly I shall cont<strong>in</strong>ue to<br />
pardon thee so long as thou supplicate to Me and hopest for My<br />
forgiveness whatever may be thy faults and s<strong>in</strong>s, I don't care. O son<br />
<strong>of</strong> Adam, even if thy s<strong>in</strong>s pile up as high as the sky, and thou askest<br />
for My forgiveness, I will forgive thee. O son <strong>of</strong> Adam, if thou<br />
comest to Me with an earthful <strong>of</strong> defaults and meetest Me, not<br />
associat<strong>in</strong>g anyth<strong>in</strong>g with Me, I will come to thee, with an earthful<br />
<strong>of</strong> forgiveness." (Tirmizi)<br />
AbuBakr heard Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) say, "No man<br />
will commit a s<strong>in</strong>, then get up and purify himself, then pray, then ask<br />
Allah's forgiveness without Allah forgiv<strong>in</strong>g him." Then he recited,<br />
"And those who, when they do someth<strong>in</strong>g to be ashamed <strong>of</strong>, or who<br />
wrong themselves, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their s<strong>in</strong>s.<br />

Abu Saeed reports that Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said that<br />
the devil said, "By Thy might, my Lord, I shall cont<strong>in</strong>ue to lead Thy<br />
servants astray as long as their spirits are <strong>in</strong> their bodies." The Lord,<br />
