Mortality and morbidity associated with tricuspid
regurgitation occurring after MV surgery
The early mortality, long-term survival, freedom from heart failure,
and functional outcome are all significantly worse for patients with
severe tricuspid regurgitation compared to those without severe
regurgitation
Moderate tricuspid regurgitation, is also associated with inferior
survival, but to a lesser degree than for severe regurgitation (79% 1year
survival for moderate, compared to 64% for severe and 90% to
92% for patients with mild or none, respectively)
