Initially integrated in<strong>to</strong> z/OS R7 as its own FMID, and that FMID was made<br />

available in a Web Deliverable back <strong>to</strong> z/OS R4.<br />

In z/OS <strong>R8</strong> with enhancements, and merged with the BCP base FMID (HBB7730)<br />

IBM Tivoli Direc<strong>to</strong>ry Server for z/OS<br />

New z/OS <strong>R8</strong> base element, planned <strong>to</strong> be made available 1H07.<br />

<strong>The</strong> existing element, Integrated Security Services - LDAP Server, will continue <strong>to</strong><br />

be available in addition <strong>to</strong> this new z/OS <strong>R8</strong> Server.<br />

msys for Operations<br />

Removed in z/OS <strong>R8</strong><br />

IBM plans <strong>to</strong> transition many of the msys for Operations functions <strong>to</strong> a new user<br />

interface and infrastructure in a future release of z/OS.<br />

z/OS Security Level 3<br />

IBM Tivoli Direc<strong>to</strong>ry Server for z/OS Security Level 3 - new subelement in z/OS<br />

<strong>R8</strong>. Includes LDAP Server Security Level 3.<br />

This function was included in z/OS R7 as a separate FMID under the BCP element.<br />

That z/OS R7 FMID was also made available in the Web deliverable IBM Health<br />

Checker for V1R4/R5/R6 of z/OS and z/OS.e.<br />

In z/OS <strong>R8</strong>, it’s a component of base element BCP FMID HBB7730.<br />

This new base element, IBM Tivoli Direc<strong>to</strong>ry Server for z/OS, is planned <strong>to</strong><br />

provide an optimized direc<strong>to</strong>ry server, designed <strong>to</strong> allow greater<br />

consolidation of LDAP direc<strong>to</strong>ries on z/OS. This function is planned <strong>to</strong> be<br />

made available by 1H2007. This is planned <strong>to</strong> enable you <strong>to</strong> collapse user<br />

registries typically used by distributed applications on z/OS, which can help<br />

simplify enterprise management and disaster recovery. <strong>The</strong> existing<br />

Integrated Security Services - LDAP Server will continue <strong>to</strong> be available in<br />

addition <strong>to</strong> the new z/OS <strong>R8</strong> Server.<br />

This base element has been removed from the system. IBM plans <strong>to</strong><br />

transition many of the msys for Operations functions <strong>to</strong> a new user interface<br />

and infrastructure in a future release of z/OS.<br />

This unpriced optional feature was new in z/OS R5 and contains several<br />

subelements. A new subelement in z/OS <strong>R8</strong> is IBM Tivoli Direc<strong>to</strong>ry Server<br />

for z/OS Security Level 3. This function includes and replaces the LDAP<br />

Security Level 3 subelement.<br />
