I joined Amersham International plc as a receptionist in 1994. At first I
worked on reception in Lt. Chalfont, which at the time was Head Office.
Years later I went over to Pollards Wood as receptionist. There were
literally only about 30 of us on site. We all worked in the old Manor
House while the main building was being completely refurbished.
The first Christmas at PW in the Manor House was a unique and
magical time. Canapés in reception complete with Father Christmas
(Peter Sykes), greeting all with a welcome drink before sitting down to
Christmas lunch in the dining room. This was followed by showing an
amazingly funny and inventive ‘Pollywood’ movie made by and starring
quite a few of the staff. A perfect end to a really memorable day. I left
Amersham/GE in 2009 after being made redundant. I am not working
at present.

I worked at Amersham from Oct 1982- April
1990, in Life Sciences Development. I am now
a Principal Scientist, at MedImmune/AstraZeneca,
Cambridge. Living in Cambridge for the last
20 years.
Ron Long
Ron joined the main Board of Amersham plc in
August 1990 as Commercial Director. He then
went on to be appointed Managing Director
Life Sciences in 1996 and CEO for Amersham
Pharmacia Biotech from 1997 until June 2000
when he was appointed Vice Chairman of the
Group until his retirement from Amersham in June 2001.
Currently CEO of SkyMedical Ltd also trading as Firstkind Ltd.
Rose Brown
Joined in 1965 and worked there until retiring in 2002. Lead a superb
European team focussing on the Pharma Industry.
Sandy McBean
Was in UK sales for Molecular Dynamics in the Vistra days. Now
General Manager at illumina UK Ltd.
