Sunfire is an award winning version <strong>of</strong> a familiar plant, this one blooming earlier and longer than others and<br />
tolerating more heat <strong>as</strong> well. Drought tolerant and tolerant <strong>of</strong> poor soils.... what could be e<strong>as</strong>ier? Or prettier<br />
than the 2" flowers with golden-orange petals and burgundy colors at the b<strong>as</strong>e. To just 16" tall forming clumps<br />
to 18" wide. Perfect for cut flowers. Sun and well-drained soil and occ<strong>as</strong>ional summer water for best<br />

In a word, “Gorgeous.” Coppery-pink petals shine from spring through fall on this tough little evergreen<br />
groundcover. This plant w<strong>as</strong> selected from a collection <strong>of</strong> Delosperma cooperi at the Denver Botanic Garden<br />
in 1998. Perfect for the sunny rock garden. Works well in containers too. Plant in full sun in well-drained soil.<br />

We found this ice plant growing at 10,000 ft elevation just e<strong>as</strong>t <strong>of</strong> Sani P<strong>as</strong>s on the border <strong>of</strong> South Africa and<br />
Lesotho, forming a dense growing cushion <strong>of</strong> only 1" tall <strong>by</strong> 10" wide, with stunning yellow flowers. These<br />
have become popular in the mountain states (think Denver) for their extreme cold hardiness (-20F) when soil<br />
is well drained. Tough and pretty in the sun. Frost hardy to the bottom <strong>of</strong> <strong>USDA</strong> <strong>zone</strong> 5.<br />

Elaeagnus ‘Quicksilver’ silverbush eleagnus<br />
Long sought and under delivered deciduous shrub with stunning silver foliage and early spring flowers with<br />
the aroma <strong>of</strong> vanilla. This chance seedling, discovered and named <strong>by</strong> British plantsman, Roy Lanc<strong>as</strong>ter,<br />
reaches an eventual 6-8 ft but can be kept much lower through pruning. Can also be stooled on occ<strong>as</strong>ion to<br />
create a dense perennial. A very good plant in cold or wet climates that <strong>of</strong>ten can’t accommodate silver<br />
foliage. Needs decent drainage and, though drought tolerant, enjoys occ<strong>as</strong>ional summer water. Frost hardy in<br />
<strong>USDA</strong> <strong>zone</strong> 4.<br />
