its latest class of 160 students

Lausanne, 19 June 2007 – The graduation ceremonies for the 2007 spring term at the
Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) took place on the Chalet-à-Gobet campus on
Thursday 15 and Friday 16 June. The 160 graduates of the «International Hospitality
Management» and «Management of Hotel Operations» programmes were awarded
the School’s diploma after one and a half and four and a half years of study
respectively. For both graduating classes, the ceremonies were an emotional occasion.
Graduation of the Management of Hotel Operations programme
The graduation ceremony of the Management of Hotel Operations programme took place on
Thursday 14 June, in the presence of some 100 parents and visitors. Diplomas were awarded to
38 of the 47 students in the French- and English-language sections, after their intensive training
experience comprising two terms on campus followed by a six-month internship in the industry
After carrying out their internships, the students will be awarded the Associate Degree in
Management of Hotel Operations. This programme focuses particularly on the assimilation of the
necessary skills, which are reinforced by further practice through the work experience during the
internship. The students are exposed to the know-how and to the “savoir-être” of the
professional world.

Students serving companies
Towards the end of their studies, the students of the International Hospitality Management
Programme work as consultants for real companies, for a period of nine weeks which they
spend on site. The projects in question often include an analysis of some aspect of the
company’s activity. This year, the mandating companies who gave a vote of confidence to EHL
students included : Flybaboo, Casino Barrière and Hyatt Over 70% of such Student Business
Projets (SBPs) are subsequently implemented by the companies. Three groups of students out
of 27 were awarded prizes for the high quality of the projects they delivered.
CREATIVITY PRIZE, NOVOTEL
For developing a new foodservice concept applicable to all Novotel hotels in Switzerland, while
respecting the chain’s standards and the identity of the brand.

Graduation of the International Hospitality Management programme
In the course of the ceremony on 15 June, 122 of the 134 students of the French and English
sections were awarded their diplomas. This Bacholor programme enjoys the double accreditation
of the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland (HES-SO), awarded by the Swiss
Government, and a Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management, accredited by
the New England Association of School and Colleges (NEASC), in the United States. This is the
most popular of the EHL programmes.

Operations (140 students), and MBA in International Hospitality Management (21 students)
programmes; 2 students are in transfer.
• 778 students in the French section and 840 in the English section.
• 864 women and 754 men.
• Main countries represented : Switzerland (736 students), France (265 students), Germany
(87), South Korea (40), USA (22 students), Italy (28), Spain (26), United Kingdom (25),
Belgium (23), Canada (18), …
• A total of 85 nationalities were represented among the students this term.
• 303 staff, including 93 faculty members and instructors.
• 35 nationalities represented among the staff.

Introduced in 2000, the Prix Esprit EHL is awarded to students who during their studies at EHL have shown
exceptional commitment in time and energy to the good of the School and its students. The originality of
the Prize lies in the fact the students themselves elect one of their comrades from their own year.
