4 You have done it! It’s time now to enjoy the credit, the celebration and the ceremony that comes with your success. Your dedication, hard work and commitment have made us proud and have furthered the reputation of our university. You deserve to be honoured in style. Graduation ceremonies at Unisa are grand occasions. Consequently, graduands and diploma candidates are required to follow certain procedures in accordance with our academic traditions, such as dress code and protocols. You will appreciate that due to the number of graduands and diploma candidates involved, our ceremonies have to run like clockwork. Therefore, adherence to our ceremonial procedures is mandatory. The purpose of this brochure is to guide you through those procedures, thereby ensuring that you have all the information you need to make your graduation ceremony an unforgettable experience. By graduating from Unisa, you have proved your dedication, your determination and your commitment. And of course, you also have something that is beyond measure… new knowledge. You are a valuable asset, both in your community and in the workplace. Unisa recognises this value, and the potential for our graduates to move us further towards becoming the leading African university in the service of humanity.
