4. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE<br />

4.1 Service reliability <strong>of</strong> outlet, spillway sump pump mechanical –<br />

(1) Broken or disconnected lift chains and cables<br />

(2) Test operation including auxiliary power sources<br />

(3) Reliability and service connections <strong>of</strong> primary sources<br />

(4) Verification <strong>of</strong> operators understanding and ability to operate<br />

(5) Case and assurance <strong>of</strong> access to control stations<br />

(6) Functioning <strong>of</strong> lubrication systems<br />

4.2 Gate chamber, galleries, tunnels and conduits<br />

(1) Ventilation and heat control <strong>of</strong> damp, corrosive environment <strong>of</strong><br />

mechanical-electrical equipment.<br />

4.3 Accessibility and visibility<br />

(1) Obscuring & vegetal overgrowth<br />

(2) Galleries-access ladders & lighting<br />

(3) Access roads and bridges<br />

(4) Communication and remote control lines, cables and<br />

telemetering systems<br />

4.4 Control <strong>of</strong> vegetation and burrowing animals<br />

(1) Harmful vegetation in embankments-oversize & dead root<br />

channels<br />
