LIMITS The maximum length of a script line is 16834 characters. In some environments, the length of an argument string is restricted. For example, command-line arguments cannot be longer than 128 bytes if you are using the standard command.com command interpreter. NOTES When the .SETDIR special target is used, MKS Make checks the file attributes of targets and prerequisites on every pass through a rule. This can significantly increase the number of file system accesses.
