Used in conjunction with the scenarios provided later in the chapter, this information helps you to organize Implementer. NOTE This list is not all-inclusive of the setup required to gain full advantage of all Implementer’s robust features and functions. For more information, see the requirements listed for each specific feature.
The following list identifies the basic functions you use to set up Implementer: Overview of Setup Tasks System Control Maintenance allows you to define your company name, default job queue, and numerous other system-wide defaults. Create User Profile allows you to define the rights and characteristics of each Implementer user. Create Environment allows you to define the characteristics of the different types of environments and related environments for your applications, and establish default development paths for production environments. Work with Object Codes allows you to define the specific types of objects used for promotion. Reset Authorities allows you to change the OS/400 owners and authorities to objects in the environment libraries. Build List allows you to load members and objects into Implementer’s environment repository. Create Environment Groups allows you to define environment groups for promotion or distribution purposes. Set up User-defined Programming Development Manager allows you set up PDM to perform Implementer functions for environments. Implementer Server allows you to configure the Implementer Server, which is the gateway to MKS Integrity integrations, as well as the primary contact point for many external and third party integrations. For details, see “Configuring the Implementer Server” on page 217. MKS Integrity Setup allows you to configure the communications and other variables required to use MKS Integrity for issue management with Implementer. For details, see “Implementer and MKS Integrity Integration” on page 196. MKS Source Setup allows you to configure the communications and other variables required to use MKS Source for source archiving with Implementer. For details, see “Implementer and MKS Source Integration” on page 259. Before setting up Implementer, it is necessary to conceptually understand two features that apply to all development scenarios: projects and archiving. Projects are a common element of the development cycle. The primary decisions regarding projects are whether you use projects, and how you use them. The following options are available for managing projects in Implementer: Implementer projects MKS Integrity projects (requires using MKS Integrity for issue management); for more information, see “Implementer and MKS Integrity Integration” on page 196 DesignTracker projects (requires using DesignTracker for issue management) 13
