4 Make the development change to the second version. Developer codes, compiles, and
tests.
5 Resolve the conflict for the first version of the member.
Developer notifies the administrator that conflict resolution is necessary or, if
allowed, resolves the conflict himself.
Administrator resolves all conflicts of the first completed version of the member.
Promoting a request often includes conflict resolution, as described in the next task.
6 Promote the first version to testing.
Developer or administrator creates the promotion request.
Developer can compile the promotion request into the work library, as a separate
task or when creating the request.
Administrator moves the members/objects into quality assurance.
7 Complete the second change. Developer codes, compiles, and tests.
8 Resolve the conflict for the second change.
Developer notifies the administrator that conflict resolution is necessary.
Administrator resolves all conflicts of the second completed version of the member.
Promoting a request often includes conflict resolution, as described in the next task.
This step could include reviewing the source code of the emergency version, or even
performing a merge or compare of the version.
9 Promote the second version to testing.
Developer creates the promotion request.
Developer can compile the promotion request into the work library, either as a
separate task or when creating the request.
Administrator moves the members/objects into quality assurance.
10 Quality assurance testing. Tester tests the change for functional consistency and
accuracy.
11 Promote to production.
Tester creates the promotion request.
Administrator moves the members/objects into production.
