Message of Thanks
A formal RICS group was established in the UAE in 2003 when membership was
less than 400. Today there are 950 full members with trainees and students making
up a grand total of 1,900. Although a number of committed staff and members have
been involved in this growth it is appropriate to single out three individuals for the
exceptional contributions they have made.
Charles Blincow, Martin Seward-Case and Daniel Alcon have all been involved since
the earliest days of the UAE National Association. Charles has most recently been the
Chair of the Shadow World Regional Board, Martin has just stepped down as Chair of
the UAE National Association and Daniel who was the inaugural chair of the National
Association from 2003-2007 has announced that he will step down from his current
Board position next month, although he will remain active in Professional Groups.
The National Association has thrived under their management and they have
provided local leadership for the RICS in a booming construction and property market
operating in a multi-cultural environment. A key achievement has been to establish
the APC process not only in the UAE but helping to set it up across the region,
ensuring that there is an infrastructure to deliver the consistent values for which the
RICS stands.
In doing all of that Charles, Martin and Daniel have given generously of their time in
numerous ways and for this we offer them our personal appreciation and the thanks
of the RICS.
