Chief Executive’s View
I am delighted to have the chance to make contact with RICS members in the UAE.
It has been a challenging 12 months around the world and I congratulate you all for
the robust performance you have shown in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, doing business in a
tricky market and finding time to help with training, counselling, assessing or meeting
fellow members over golf, cricket or dinner.
The Middle East region is well known as a dynamic environment and it is inevitable
that change will occur. So when long standing committee members step down
it’s right that we should thank them for their contribution at the same time as
welcoming a new board. The executive team in Dubai led by Alan, won the RICS
2010 Performance Counts Awards – Jim as the new director, will be aiming to keep
that title in 2011. I am making changes to how RICS’ HQ operates for the future and
separating out the UK as a World Region in its own right so that we are best placed
to seize the worldwide opportunities which exist for us all in RICS.
It is a priority for me to meet members in the regions where RICS is growing and I
hope I will have the chance to meet many of you personally in 2011.
