UMPG Nashville has renewed exclusive
worldwide publishing deals
with chart-topping songwriters
Rivers Rutherford and Luke Laird.
Rutherford signed with UMPG in
1996 and has enjoyed numerous
awards including ASCAP’s Country
Song of the Year and Country Songwriter
of the Year. Rutherford’s
songs have been recorded by Keith
Urban, Carrie Underwood, Tim
McGraw, Gretchen Wilson, Reba
McEntire, Faith Hill, and Darius
Rucker. Laird has had numerous hits
including “Last Name” and “So
Small” by Carrie Underwood on her
multi-platinum Carnival Ride and
her single, “Temporary Home” from
Play On. Laird’s “Hillbilly Bone,” by
Blake Shelton, is also hot on the
country charts. Tim McGraw, Rascal
Flatts, Lee Ann Womack, Jessica
Simpson, and Julianne Hough have
also recorded Laird’s work.
OLYMPIC SYNCHS
UMPG artists Hedley, K-OS, Alanis Morissette, and Rondor’s Avril
Lavigne all performed during the closing ceremonies for the
Olympics. UMPG licensed over 40 songs for the Olympics broadcast.

MARS BONFIRE “BORN TO BE WILD”
Mars Bonfire and “Born to be Wild” were the focus of
this year’s “Life of A Song” conference during Canadian
Music Week. Jodie Ferneyhough joined Bonfire as
they discussed the longevity the song has ach-ieved
through its multiple incarnations and synch uses.
