Brentwood-Benson celebrates a
publishing interest in fifty-four
Dove Award nominations, including
three nominations for the
presitigious Song of the Year category,
Artist of the Year, and Group
of the Year, among others.

composed Quatuor n° 7 “Open
Time,” which the Arditti Quartet premiered
in January. Dusapin returns
to the genre of the string quartet
after an interval of some years – the
publication of his first four string

with Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona
recently commissioned Giorgio
Battistelli and Luca Francesconi to
write two new pieces, requesting
them to draw inspiration from the
works of Claudio Monteverdi.
Giorgio Battistelli found a source
of inspiration in Book VIII of the
madrigals, the Madrigali guerrieri, et
amorosi, from whose preface he
borrows the title: Inventis facile est
addere. The piece was performed at

and two nods for Recording Music

BRENTWOOD-BENSON ACQUIRES EMACK
EMACK is the publishing arm of Christian label Gotee
Records. The EMACK catalog includes Relient K, Luna Halo,
Grits, Jennifer Knapp, and more. The deal includes acquisition
of both the song catalog and current artist/writer deals
such as Ayiesha Woods, Sarah Kelly, and B Reith. The
companies will jointly publish future acts signed to the label.

2005. The unusual Quatuor VII
“Hinterland” for string quartet and
orchestra, on the other hand, defined
by the composer as a hapax,
premiered at the Konzertsaal in
Luzern on 18th April. UMPG
Teatro Dal Verme in Milan and at
the Ponchielli in Cremona. “The exercise
of looking back to the past,
which might seem straightforward,
is in fact today very problematic. I
wanted to avoid the neo-classical
approach,” explains Battistelli. Luca
Francesconi has drawn inspiration
from the libretto of Monteverdi’s
Orpheus. “I compiled a brief text
drawing from Alessandro Striggio’s
work the topical moments in the evolution
of the mood.”
