First of all, allow me to wish all CCCR members and their
families a safe, prosperous, and Happy New Year!
The Christmas party, held at the San Luis Obispo Country
Club, was well timed to kick off the holiday season. The
decorations, food, and door prizes were exceptional. A
special thanks goes to Sanja Brewer and Marla Hill for
all their hard work and for producing splendid, enjoyable
evening.
As you read this message the new Board will have had its
first meeting and put into motion another year of activities
aimed at continued Porsche owners fellowship. With three
new Board members, and a shuffling of office duties, I’m
sure we can expect some fresh and creative activities for
2012.
The tried and true “Pozo Run” will start off the 2012 event
calendar on January 22nd , with the “Parkfield Run” to follow
on February 26th . To all our new members: These two events
have always been club favorites, so make sure you sign up
with Dave Mills no later than January 15th for the Pozo drive
and brunch. More detailed information on these two events
are given in this issue of your Coastalaire and on the club
web site.
Speaking of the website, Eriel Nash has agreed to continue
as CCCR Webmaster. I’m sure that you will agree that Eriel
produces an outstanding site month after month. Many of
the features in the printed version of the Coastalaire are
expanded in our Web version.
On behalf of the entire Board and members of the CCC
Region I would like to offer special thanks to Hamp Miller
for taking the helm last year. Hamp is a take charge person
which was evidenced by his leadership in revising the Club
By-Laws and bringing them up to date.
I promised our Coastalaire editor, Bob Kitamura, that I
would keep my messages short. I am looking forward to a
great Porsche new year. Be safe.

Well, can you believe it? Its 2012, where did 2011 go? I am
looking forward to a great and fun new year, of course that is
easy for me to say since I am now well into retirement. We
have a great new board of directors with a mixture of new
faces and continuing ones. They are ready to serve you with
some exciting events in 2012.
Linda Goodman, the Contributing Editor for Panorama,
included our Drive to the Castle in the December issue. You
can read about it on pages 60-62 of that issue. Of the many
photos that I had sent them, they used the one of Jim and
Roberta Major. You can see it below.
The Coastalaire staff is always looking for additional human
interest stories having to do with your Porsche, whether
its family-related, traveling, racing, technical items, your
search for the perfect car, etc. The membership likes to hear
about what all of us are doing. So send me your stories at
anytime of the year.
The question of the year is, which one of you will be buying
the new 2012 991 (911) first? Of course, I wish it was going
to be me but the chances of that purchase order happening is
slim and none. When you do get one this year, and will admit
it, shoot me an email.

In closing, I don’t know how many of you knew this but
Steve Jobs never had permanent license plates for his
Mercedes AMG. In California, you are allowed to not have
permanent plates on your car for up to 6 months after you
purchase it. So the genius that he was, he just leased a new
Mercedes every 6 months, it also helped that he was filthy
rich! He was also eccentric but aren’t we all, since we do
own a Porsche.
