The Hay stondith hard apon Wy, <strong>and</strong> yet sheuith the/111/ token of a right of<br />
strong waul!e, hav<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> hit iii. gates <strong>and</strong> a posterne. Ther is also a castel, the<br />
which sumtime hath bene right stately.<br />

With<strong>in</strong> the toune is but one poore paroche. In the suburbe hard by Wy is a paroche chirch<br />
meately fair. Ther is also <strong>in</strong> the suburbe a chapel wher on a Sunday I hard Messe. Not far<br />
from the paroche chirch <strong>in</strong> the suburbe is a great rounde hille of yerth cast up by mennes<br />
hondes other for a wynd mille to stond apon, or rather for sum fortres of bataille.<br />
The toun of the Hay yet hath a market, but the toun with<strong>in</strong> the waulles is wonderfully<br />
decaied. The ru<strong>in</strong>e is adscribid to Gene Gl<strong>in</strong>dour.<br />
One shewid me <strong>in</strong> the town the ru<strong>in</strong>es of a gentilman’s place caullid Waulw<strong>in</strong>e, 782 be<br />
whose meanes Pr<strong>in</strong>ce Lluel<strong>in</strong> was sodenli taken at Buelth Castel, <strong>and</strong> ther beheddid, <strong>and</strong> his<br />
hedde sent to the K<strong>in</strong>ge.<br />

even thorough the toun, <strong>and</strong> strait <strong>in</strong>to Wy without the est gate of the town. In feldes hard by<br />
<strong>in</strong> ploughyng hath be founde offtimes numismata Romanorum, the wich ther communely be<br />
caulled the Jewis mony.<br />

Go<strong>in</strong>g from Brekenok toward Ll<strong>in</strong>seuathan a ii. miles out of Brekenok I saw the castel of<br />
Pengelthle, lev<strong>in</strong>g it on the lifte honde. And at the Ll<strong>in</strong>nseuathan I saw on the right honde<br />
scant a mile of Bla<strong>in</strong>lleueny 786 Castel.<br />
