<strong>USA</strong>S HIRES PETE CARSON<br />
<strong>USA</strong>S is pleased to announce the<br />
new Competitions Coordinator,<br />
Pete Carson. Born and raised<br />
in rural Michigan, Pete Carson<br />
graduated from UCCS (CU-Colorado<br />
Springs) with a degree in Communications.<br />
While attending college, Pete assisted in<br />
the management of the Campus Recreation<br />
Center and also held marketing, public<br />
relations and sport operations internships.<br />
Carson’s passion for the Olympic<br />
Movement became a reality when he was<br />
selected to intern for the USOC in the<br />
Operations Department and now brings this<br />
passion and excitement to <strong>USA</strong> <strong>Shooting</strong>.<br />
An avid outdoorsman, Pete enjoys hunting,<br />
hiking, camping and playing sports.<br />
Carson’s primary role at <strong>USA</strong>S is to<br />
oversee the Junior Olympic programs and<br />
to assist the Director of Competitions with<br />
national events. He is also responsible for<br />
national records and national rankings<br />
and heads up ISSF ocials renewals and<br />
<strong>USA</strong>S certication programs. Please help us<br />
welcome Carson to <strong>USA</strong> <strong>Shooting</strong>.<br />
<strong>USA</strong>S HOSTS EXECUTIVE SPORTS<br />
LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE<br />

the Executive Sports Leadership<br />
Conference at the International<br />
<strong>Shooting</strong> Park July 22nd. General Sports<br />
and Entertainment hosted a conference for<br />
professional sports leaders at the Broadmoor<br />
Hotel. Following the Friday meetings<br />
participants could participate in golf, y<br />
shing or experience the Olympic shotgun<br />
sports. e shooting event was fully<br />
subscribed although the number<br />
decreased slightly when the pro football<br />
labor agreement was settled and free<br />
agency began.<br />
Participants were provided<br />
demonstrations of both trap and skeet<br />
by resident athletes who then provided<br />
personal coaching to each of the<br />
attendees. Among those participating<br />
were Basketball Hall of Fame honoree<br />
Rick Barry who is an experienced bird<br />
hunter and denitely knows how to<br />
handle a shotgun.<br />

enjoyable aernoon and everyone was hitting<br />
more targets by the time shooting concluded<br />
thanks to good coaching from our athletes<br />
who enjoyed socializing and shooting with<br />
our guests. e event also provided the<br />
opportunity to showcase Olympic shotgun to<br />
some of professional sports’ top executives.<br />
A good time was had by all and a request<br />
to host the group in 2012 has already been<br />
received.<br />

The Hunting Heritage<br />
Trust has donated $5000<br />
to <strong>USA</strong> <strong>Shooting</strong> in<br />
support of the training and<br />
competition eort underway for the<br />
2012 Olympics. Created in 2002 by<br />
leaders from hunting, shooting sports<br />
and conservation organizations, the<br />
Hunting Heritage Trust’s mission is to<br />
help generate funding for promising<br />
hunting and shooting sports initiatives<br />
and to support broad-based eorts that<br />
make existing hunting and shooting<br />
