Lubricant
A Mineral oil without HP-additions should be used as a lubricant according
to the table below.
Room temperature °C SAE No.
- 5 bis + 25 30
25 bis 45 40
45 bis 60 50
The lubricant can only fulfil its requirements if it gets between pin and bush
in the chain links. The oil should enter between outside and inside link plates.
The lubrication of the chain with grease is without effect because it can not
enter into the links.
Mounting the chain wheels
The chain wheels have to be in alignment with the
plane of the chain. This can be checked with a straight
edge following the adjoining sketch. The two shafts
have to be parallel to each other; this means the inclination
and twist should be kept to a minimum.
Further machining of standard chain
wheels and plates
Spirit
As long as an exact eccentricity is needed in the
bores, the chain wheels or plates should be centred over the toothing.
If larger quantities are to be processed, then a centring ring with several pins
on the pitch circle diameter is to be used. The pin size corresponds (small
deviation allowed) to the roller diameter of the chain.
For smaller quantities, pins can be placed in the toothing, see sketch below.
