Tridentine: <strong>The</strong> Roman Catholic mass as celebrated between<br />

of Trento, in Italy, and the Church Council that met there<br />

from 1545-1547. It is celebrated only in Latin.<br />

Warding: In magickal practice, warding sets up protective<br />

barriers by means of spells or angelic invocations.<br />

Whiteheadian: Pertaining to the philosophy of Alfred North<br />

Whitehead, known as Process <strong>The</strong>ology. Process <strong>The</strong>ology<br />

holds that God is evolving and is dependent on the universe<br />

for God’s own fulfillment. Process Thought also holds that<br />

matter is an illusion and that only actions exist. All beings<br />

are really events, nested within the largest event, God.<br />

Wicca: A contemporary revival of native traditions, especially<br />

Native European tradition. Also called “witchcraft”<br />

Wiccans (or witches) worship the Goddess, her embodiment<br />

in the Earth, and seek to be in harmony with natural forces,<br />

the seasons, etc. Wiccans work with a variety of pantheons<br />

(Celtic, Greek, etc.) and may hold their deities to be<br />

metaphorical personifications of natural forces or actual<br />

entities.<br />

Wiccan: Pertaining to Wicca—a Wiccan priestess or priest, a<br />

Wiccan ritual, etc.<br />

Yoruban: Pertaining to the Native African religion of<br />

Yoruba, which has its origins in Southwestern Nigeria.
