Acknowledgments<br />

This paper is an abridged version of <strong>the</strong> Nepal <strong>Land</strong> Watch<br />

Country paper for <strong>Land</strong> Watch Asia on <strong>the</strong> status of Access <strong>to</strong><br />

<strong>Land</strong> and opportunities and strategies for Civil Society advocacy.<br />

This is a collective effort of more than 37 individuals and civil<br />

society organizations (CSOs) in Nepal<br />

This work’s principal authors and researchers are Mr. Jagat<br />

Basnet and Mr. Jagat Deuja, Community Self-Reliance Centre<br />

(CSRC); Mr. Baburam Acharya, Secretary of <strong>Land</strong> Reform and<br />

Management; Mr. Ghanshayam Pandey, FECOFUN; Ms. Yamuna<br />

Ghale; Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) and Krishna<br />

Pathak, Advisor of CSRC. It was prepared under <strong>the</strong> overall guidance<br />

of Mr. Jagat Basnet, Executive Direc<strong>to</strong>r, CSRC which acts<br />

as <strong>the</strong> focal point for <strong>Land</strong> Watch Asia in Nepal. The Federation<br />

of Community Forest Users Nepal (FECOFUN) and NGO Federation<br />

of Nepal (NFN) are partners <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>se processes.<br />

The paper greatly benefited from comments and suggestions of<br />

<strong>the</strong> participants of <strong>the</strong> validation workshops organized in<br />

Kathmandu, Nepal and carried out <strong>the</strong> study from July 2007 <strong>to</strong><br />

March 2008. Editing work was undertaken by Alex Linghorn,<br />

Volunteer of CSRC and Mr. Teeka Bhattarai, Independent Consultant.<br />
