John G. Ault, 84, <strong>of</strong> <strong>Perrysburg</strong>,<br />

died <strong>September</strong> 20,<br />

<strong>2012</strong>, at St. Luke’s Hospital.<br />

He was born in <strong>Perrysburg</strong>,<br />

on November 11, 1927, to<br />

William and Matilda “Lucy”<br />

(Kiefer) Ault. Mr. Ault was<br />

a farmer for 38 years and<br />

drove a school bus for<br />

Rossford Schools.<br />

Mr. Ault served his country,<br />

<strong>the</strong> region, Wood<br />

County and <strong>Perrysburg</strong><br />

Township throughout his<br />

entire life.<br />

He was a World War II<br />

Army veteran and a charter<br />

member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Perrysburg</strong><br />

Township Fire Department<br />

and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Perrysburg</strong> Chamber<br />

<strong>of</strong> Commerce. Mr. Ault was<br />

a <strong>Perrysburg</strong> Township<br />

Trustee for 10 years; a<br />

Wood County Commissioner<br />

for 15 years; served<br />

on <strong>the</strong> board <strong>of</strong> directors for<br />

TMACOG; an active participant<br />

in <strong>the</strong> American Legion<br />

Buckeye Boys State<br />

program; served on <strong>the</strong><br />

Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees <strong>of</strong> Owens<br />

Community College for 22<br />

years, Wood County Regional<br />

Water and Sewer District,<br />

Banc Ohio and<br />

Citizens Bank.<br />

He also was a director <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Perrysburg</strong> Grain and Supply<br />

for 15 years.<br />

Mr. Ault was awarded<br />

<strong>the</strong> Spirit <strong>of</strong> Wood County<br />

Award for outstanding service<br />

in self government.<br />

He was a member <strong>of</strong> Fraternal<br />

Order <strong>of</strong> Eagles 2322,<br />

Wood County Farm Bureau<br />

and Luckey Legion 240. He<br />

also was an active member<br />

<strong>of</strong> St. Rose Catholic Church,<br />

where he served as an usher<br />

for many years.<br />

Mr. Ault is survived by<br />

his wife <strong>of</strong> 63 years, Leona;<br />

sons, Rick (Kenda), Tim<br />

(Amy) and Bill (Beth) Ault;<br />

grandchildren, Amy (Brad)<br />

Keller, Nicole (G.T) Parris,<br />

Daniel (Aly) Ault, Dana<br />

(Glenn) Merritt, Rick<br />

(Kristy) Ault and Jeremy<br />

Ault; great-grandchildren,<br />

Paul and Addison Parris,<br />

Ava and Ryder Ault, Mason,<br />

Rylan and Quinn Merritt,<br />

Evan and Henry Keller, and<br />

sister, Barbara Sattler. He<br />

was preceded in death by his<br />

bro<strong>the</strong>r-in-law, Robert Sattler.<br />

<strong>September</strong> 25, in <strong>the</strong> Maison-Dardenne-WalkerFuneral<br />

Home, Maumee,<br />

followed by <strong>the</strong> Funeral<br />

Mass at St. Rose Catholic<br />

Church, <strong>Perrysburg</strong>.<br />

Interment was in Fort<br />

Meigs Cemetery, <strong>Perrysburg</strong>.<br />

Mabel Ann Friess, 72, <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Perrysburg</strong>, died Thursday,<br />

<strong>September</strong> 20, <strong>2012</strong>, at Hospice<br />

<strong>of</strong> Northwest Ohio. She<br />

was born on July 11, 1940, in<br />

<strong>Perrysburg</strong>, to Clarence and<br />

Helen (Seiling) Carstensen.<br />

She was a member <strong>of</strong><br />

Grace United Methodist<br />

Church and a charter member<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Perrysburg</strong> Township<br />

Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed<br />

doing Hungarian embroidery<br />

and was a longtime<br />

member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Calvin United<br />

Church <strong>of</strong> Christ Embroidery<br />

Club in east Toledo.<br />

Ms. Friess is survived by<br />

her children, Fred (Judi), Olen<br />

Jr. (Peggy), Tom (Diane) and<br />

Cindy Tidwell; 13 grandchildren;<br />

eight great-grandchildren;<br />

bro<strong>the</strong>rs, Vernon, James<br />

(Pat) and Robert (Ruth)<br />

Carstensen; sister in-law,<br />

Margaret Carstensen, and<br />

many nieces and nephews.<br />

She was preceded in death by<br />

her husband <strong>of</strong> 49 years, Olen<br />

“Oley” Friess, in 2005. She<br />

also was preceded in death by<br />

her son, Ronald; sister, Donna<br />

Carstensen, and bro<strong>the</strong>r,<br />

Harold Carstensen.<br />

Funeral services were held<br />

Monday, <strong>September</strong> 24, at<br />

Grace United Methodist<br />

Church, <strong>Perrysburg</strong>. Interment<br />

was in Fort Meigs<br />

Cemetery. Arrangements<br />

were made by <strong>the</strong> Sujkowski<br />

Funeral Home <strong>of</strong> Rossford.<br />

Martha L. Cornelius, 85,<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Perrysburg</strong>, died Friday,<br />

<strong>September</strong> 21, <strong>2012</strong>, at Hospice<br />

<strong>of</strong> Northwest Ohio in<br />

<strong>Perrysburg</strong>. She was born on<br />

After graduating from<br />

Rossford High School, she<br />

married Paul Cornelius and<br />

moved to <strong>Perrysburg</strong>, where<br />

<strong>the</strong>y raised three children.<br />

The couple retired to Sun<br />

City, Arizona. She enjoyed<br />

spending time with her family.<br />

Ms. Cornelius is survived<br />

by her children, Sue (Victor)<br />

Williams <strong>of</strong> <strong>Perrysburg</strong>, and<br />

Paul (Carol) Cornelius <strong>of</strong><br />

Tucson, Arizona; daughter-inlaw,<br />

Tammy Cornelius; seven<br />

grandchildren; 13 great<br />

grandchildren, and several<br />

nieces and nephews. She was<br />

preceded in death by her husband,<br />

Paul, in 1997; son,<br />

James Cornelius; sisters,<br />

Mary Gercak, Dorothy Parrish<br />

and Frances Lindley;<br />

bro<strong>the</strong>rs, Louis and Edward<br />

Gercak.<br />

According to her wishes,<br />

<strong>the</strong>re will be no visitation and<br />

interment will be private.<br />

presentation-only event<br />

The event coincides with<br />

Medicare’s October 15 to<br />

December 7 annual enrollment<br />

period. The sessions,<br />

<strong>of</strong> Insurance’s Senior<br />

Health Insurance Information<br />

Program, are intended<br />

to help people review<br />

changes to Medicare and determine<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir best coverage<br />

At <strong>the</strong> Medicare Checkup,<br />

beneficiaries can learn<br />

about recent changes to<br />

Medicare, such as deductibles,<br />

co-pay and coinsurance<br />

79, died Saturday, <strong>September</strong><br />

22, <strong>2012</strong>, at Hospice<br />

<strong>of</strong> Northwest Ohio, <strong>Perrysburg</strong>.<br />

She was born April 22,<br />

1933, in <strong>Perrysburg</strong>, to Eric<br />

“Sam” and Myra (Wieland)<br />

Adams. She married Richard<br />

Thompson on August 14,<br />

1954.<br />

Ms. Thompson was an<br />

LPN for various Cleveland<br />

and <strong>Perrysburg</strong> hospitals.<br />

She was a private nurse and<br />

caregiver for <strong>the</strong> elderly<br />

around <strong>the</strong> <strong>Perrysburg</strong> area.<br />

She was a member <strong>of</strong> Zoar<br />

Lu<strong>the</strong>ran Church, enjoyed<br />

crocheting, skeet shooting,<br />

playing cards and spending<br />

time with her dogs.<br />

She is survived by her sister,<br />

Kathryn (John) Piatt;<br />

bro<strong>the</strong>r, James (Barbara)<br />

Adams and sister-in-law,<br />

Gloria Adams. She was preceded<br />

in death by her husband,<br />

Richard, on October<br />

Christine Robinson “Judy”<br />

Heckes died July 2, <strong>2012</strong>. She<br />

was born in Toledo, to Jefferson<br />

Davis Robinson and<br />

Christine (Miller) Robinson<br />

on May 28, 19<strong>26</strong>. Her grandfa<strong>the</strong>r,<br />

Jefferson D. Robinson<br />

Sr. was president <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Libbey Glass Company. Her<br />

fa<strong>the</strong>r was vice president.<br />

She attended <strong>the</strong> Ottawa<br />

Hills School, Baldwin School<br />

in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania,<br />

and graduated from <strong>Perrysburg</strong><br />

High School, and Finch<br />

Junior College in New York<br />

City. She spent much <strong>of</strong> her<br />

time traveling between her<br />

two homes in Stamford and<br />

Sarasota. She was a member<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Sarasota Field Club, an<br />

avid tennis player and enjoyed<br />

all <strong>of</strong> her family, as well as her<br />

kitty, Clairabell.<br />

She is survived by her husband,<br />

Lebanese Dinner on Sunday,<br />

October 28. Dinner will be<br />

Mary “Rita” Gerrard, 71,<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Perrysburg</strong>, died Tuesday,<br />

<strong>September</strong> 18, <strong>2012</strong>, at<br />

Parkcliffe Alzheimer’s<br />

Community <strong>of</strong> Toledo. She<br />

was born on October 11,<br />

1940, in Toledo, to Louis<br />

and Irene Giovanoli. She<br />

was a 1958 graduate <strong>of</strong><br />

Notre Dame Academy and<br />

on May 6, 1961, she married<br />

Richard Gerrard.<br />

Mrs. Gerrard had worked<br />

at Rossford Ordnance after<br />

she graduated from high<br />

school and during her marriage.<br />

She and her husband<br />

were <strong>the</strong> owners and operators<br />

<strong>of</strong> Gerrard’s Foods in<br />

Rossford for 25 years before<br />

retiring.<br />

She enjoyed golfing and<br />

playing tennis at Belmont<br />

Country Club and golfing in<br />

Florida during <strong>the</strong> winter<br />

season. She also enjoyed<br />

spending time with her<br />

grandchildren.<br />

She is survived by her<br />

husband <strong>of</strong> 51 years,<br />

Richard “Dick” Gerrard;<br />

daughters, Kelly (Frank)<br />

Zitzman and Lisa (Jack)<br />

Dillon; grandchildren,<br />

Emerson, Ashton and Jack<br />

The Kitchen <strong>of</strong> Hope<br />

program started in 2002 and<br />

is staffed by volunteers in<br />

<strong>the</strong> community. This lunch<br />

meal is provided monthly at<br />

Zoar Lu<strong>the</strong>ran Church in<br />

<strong>Perrysburg</strong> to Wood County<br />

residents on fixed incomes,<br />

including senior citizens.<br />

Special event meals are<br />

served on Easter, Thanksgiving<br />

and Christmas.<br />

hot, free meals to thousands<br />
