SPECIAL EVENTS • The Divine Mercy Assembly 2771 has organized a Memorial Day Mass in honor of our fallen heroes to be held May 30 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. Archbishop of Atlanta Wilton Gregory will be the celebrant. The assembly will provide an Honor Guard and a Color Guard and has also arranged for a flyover by four Blackhawk helicopters, as well as two buglers to play TAPS. SPECIAL EVENTS • The Cherokee County Animal Shelter will hold an Animal Care Expo May 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the shelter, 1015 Univeter Road, Canton. Veterinarians, groomers, pet-sitters, animal trainers, pet boarding and pet product companies will be represented. There is a rabies clinic from noon to 2 p.m. The cost is $7 for animals at least 4 months old. All dogs must be on a leash, and all cats must be in a secure cage. Rhino 20005 PET OF THE WEEK ■ Rhino is a 2-year-old tan and white Jack Russell Terrier. He is up-to-date on his shots, has been neutered and will be microchipped before adoption. He cannot go to a home with small children. Rhino has been staying at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter since April 21. Adoptions cost $75 for cats and dogs, and include the first round of shots, spay/neuter and microchip.
