The XI/ON concept
The modular concept of XI/ON: gateway, block
and slice design, is a combination of many
benefits which, as one, represent a completely
new approach to quality in the I/O field. The
XI/ON gateway means that I/O modules are no
longer dependent on the type of fieldbus. Its
function is to provide communication between
the fieldbus and the I/O modules. The DIN-rail
mountable base modules, available in block or
slice design, represent the connection level for
the field devices. The electronics modules, also
available as block or slice, are pluggable, and
contain the channel functions. The power
distribution module (24 V DC or 120/230 V AC)
supplies the interconnected I/O with the required
voltage. Bus-independence, precise project
planning (you only purchase the required number
of channels), the high-level of compactness, the
list is endless. In short: openness and flexibility
are XI/ON's strengths.
