As a principal, Dr. Sweeney has a higher social position; his choice of words and the clear pronunciation are appropriate and in comparison to Danny they are quite demanding. Danny’s family background and his socially rather lower class show in his behavior and the way of talking: “Oh c’mon, Sweeney!”, “Oh god man, please tell me you’re joking”. 4
