ALUMNAE NEWS Robyn Assile Ziemba ’96 and her husband John welcomed baby leyla Violet on June 2, 2008. leyla is the granddaughter of former AHA Board member Arlene Assile and niece of proud aunt Dana Assile ’99. ’97 Graziella Baratta ’97 was named Ms. united States in the pageant held this past July in las Vegas. Her Ms. united States website is www.msunitedstates08.com; you can also see her latest work on www.graziellabaratta.com. Graziella is a triple-threat as performing artist, choreographer, and a dance & fitness instructor, as well as an image consultant. Along with her sister Liana Baratta ’99, she offers personal and business image consulting through their company brand B.Youneek and most recently started a social networking site just for women at byouneek.ning.com. The network is a place where women can learn and share information on beauty, fashion, fitness, health/wellness, and be inspired. on April 12, 2008, nine angels were present to celebrate the wedding of Chan-Bene Lin ’97 and Michael ling. It was a great mini-reunion of their lunch table at AHA and all had a wonderful time wishing the newlyweds well! In attendance were Jessey Paul Abraham ’97, Joanne Fernando-Baraya ’97, Christine Gutierrez ’97, Christina George John ’95, Sarahfaye Mahon ’97, Jennifer Serna ’97, Anitha Simon ’97, Stephanie Stancato-Nguyen ’97, and Mary Kate Terwedow ’97. ’98 20 Wendy Barroso Simon ’97 and her husband Jerry joyfully welcomed their new baby boy Devin Carlos Simon on June 10, 2008. Amanda Marie Witt ’98 is engaged to William James Bogertman and a summer 2009 wedding is planned. Laura Hugerich Magliocchetti ’98, Nisha Lalchandani ’98, and Catherine Zampieri ’98 will be a part of the bridal party. Amanda is currently a personal trainer at Parisi Sports Clubs in Fair lawn, NJ. ’99 Dana Assile ’99 recently became engaged to Robert Hanna. An october 2009 wedding is planned. Many angels were in attendance at the couple’s recent engagement party. Adrianna Stipanov ’01 received her BA from Rutgers university, Douglass College in 2005 and in December 2007 received an MA in teaching from William Paterson university. She is currently working in West New York as an 8th grade math teacher. In June 2008, Adrianna married Ivo Skibola. Kristen Balsamo ’01 was in the bridal party. The couple resides in Cliffside Park, NJ and are expecting their first child in early April 2009.
’02 Elizabeth Hanratty ’02 married Dan Mueller on July 12, 2008. The wedding took place at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Ridgefield Park, NJ, and the reception was held at The View on the Hudson in Piermont, NY. Bridesmaids included AHA alumnae Jessica Gaynor ’02, Gina Talarico ’02, and Christie Titus ’02. Jessica O’Neill ’02 became engaged this past March to Benny leto. A wedding is planned for october 2009. ’03 Angela R. Cucco ’03 graduated from lehigh university in 2007 with a BA in Theater. She spent this past summer as a Stage Management intern at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Williamstown, MA. She also completed an apprenticeship as an Assistant Stage Manager at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, PA for the 2007-08 season. She currently works for the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, NJ as the Stage Manager for their Educational Touring Troupe. Kendra Mara ’03 has taken her passion for animals to a new level in becoming the Volunteer Coordinator and Humane Education Director of Animal Haven Inc., a no-kill animal shelter in New York City. In addition to recruiting and training the organization’s volunteers, she has created an educational program that teaches elementary and high school students about current animal welfare issues and the importance of treating all living things with dignity, respect, and kindness. The Met is an alternative high school based on real world learning and internship experiences and is one of 200 such schools in the country. “I am grateful for my years as an Angel.” – Carla Varriale ’84 ’04 Daryl Baboulis-Gyscek ’04 and Dana Baboulis-Gyscek ’06 spent their summer together on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. Daryl was a letter screener for the intern staff of Congressman Scott Garrett, overseeing the tour schedule for constituents visiting the Washington D.C. area. She graduated from lafayette College in May with a BA in Government and law. Dana joined Congressman Garrett’s summer intern staff, and in addition to attending legislative sessions, committee meetings and hearings in the House of Representatives, she could be seen around the Capitol building giving tours and sharing very interesting facts about the history of our Nation! Dana is a Junior at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA, majoring in Psychology. Stephanie Ringelstein ’04 graduated this past May from Providence College with a BS in Biology and a minor in Spanish. In March of this year, her Biology class took a trip to la Selva Biological Station in Costa Rica where they lived in cabins in the rain forest, conducting research projects for ten days. After graduation in May, Stephanie toured Italy with the Providence College liturgical Choir, which included singing at masses at San Marco Basilica in Venice, The Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi and St. Peters Basilica. on their final day, they sang a small piece for Pope Benedict XVI. This past summer she kept busy finishing up Vertias, the Providence College yearbook as Editor in Chief. Kara Walker ’04 graduated from The Catholic university of America in May 2008 with a degree in Media and Communications. She currently works as a Production Assistant for the Media Desk at Fox News in New York City. 21 Emily Wallace ’04 was accepted into the Jesuit Volunteers International program and will be teaching primary school in Tanzania, Africa. ’05 Laurie A. Cucco ’05 completed a student nurse externship at Hackensack university Medical Center’s Pediatric Hematology/ oncology unit this past summer. She is currently finishing her BS in Nursing at The College of New Jersey, while continuing her work at HuMC. Kathleen Kohl ’05 was recently inducted into the Konosioni Senior Honor Society at Colgate university. Konosioni was founded in 1932 with the joining of two secret societies, the Gorgon’s Head and the Skull and Scroll, and each year 26 students out of every class are peer-selected for membership. ’06 Jennifer Santana ’06 is a Junior at Wagner College in the Physician Assistant Program. She says “It is very challenging, but rewarding at the same time because we are preparing for the real world, professionalism and how to treat patients.” Jennifer is currently the Vice President of the Physician Assistant Association and the Treasurer of the Wagner chapter for the Student Association of the American Association of Physician Assistants (S.A.A.P.A.). Melissa Morin ’02 married Jeff Sutley on September 6, 2008.
