class of 1958 celebrates 50th reunion
Amid the doo-wop strains and a “homeroom”
filled with memorabilia, 58 “golden oldies”
from the class of ’58 gathered to celebrate
each other at their 50th reunion. The
group spent the weekend of october 3-5
at the IBM
Palisades
Center, the
former site of
Birchwood
Day Camp,
where many
of the classmates
had
worked as
counselors.
Angels came
from Canada,
California,
Arizona,
Maine,
Florida and
all states in
between.
They donned
sunflower
nametags
and greeted
each other at a fifties style luncheon which
included classic cokes and a 6' cardboard
Elvis in a gold lamé suit with an AHA
crest. Nancy Wilson ’58, the proverbial
class stand-up, entertained with tales of
yore and quizzed the group with AHA
trivia (name of sister in the cafeteria, color
days, etc). The girls were also treated to
the “way we were,” a DVD filled with

wonderful photo memories of 1st grade
through high school, parties, proms, and
the 25th & 40th reunions. Photos from
this 50th reunion weekend will be added
and the DVD will be sold with proceeds
going to Holy Angels. Goody bags with a
full color class directory which included
and featured a page for each classmate
with family photos and a remembrance of
classmates who have passed away. Toasts
were made to the mothers of 182 children,
grandmothers of 315 grandchildren and a
great-grandmother of 3. Also recognized
were the 24 widows. lynda Malzone

Caracci ’58 entertained the group with her
keyboard where she led the group singing
of many oldies and of course the AHA
Alma Mater with not one word forgotten!

of ’58, celebrated
with the “almostforever
angels.”
Sister Carole
shared with the
group how the
spirit, tradition
and connection
between the Fort
lee and Demarest
campuses still hold
true today, and
noted the similarity
of the journey for
all angels young
and older. Cindy
lee Smith Nelson
’58, organizer,
thanked everyone
for bringing the past into the present, for
this was an unforgettable gift. With many
promises to keep in touch, the group
ended the weekend with the singing of
“As Time Goes By”, “Danny Boy” and
“May the Good lord Bless and Keep You”.
There was not a dry eye in the room!
