CERTIFICATES<br />

PEFC, a pan-European forestry certificate, was created in 1998 as<br />

a voluntary scheme for promoting and certifying sustainable forest<br />

management.<br />

The aims of the PEFC certification scheme are to promote the sustainable<br />

management of forests as an environmentally appropriate, socially<br />

beneficial, economically viable form of management; to enhance a positive<br />

image of forests and timber as a renewable raw material; and to guarantee<br />

the origin of products from sustainably managed forests for consumers.<br />

National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA). A non-profit trade<br />

association that represents all segments of the hard<strong>wood</strong> flooring industry:<br />

manufacturers, distributors, retailers and fitters.<br />

Founded in the USA, it currently has members throughout the whole world.<br />

The association’s clear goal is to provide professionals from the sector with<br />

training and resources, thus allowing customers to benefit from long-lasting<br />

high-quality flooring.<br />

The FSC is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit-making international<br />

organization created in 1993 in order to promote an environmentally<br />

responsible, socially beneficial, economically viable form of forestry management<br />

throughout <strong>wood</strong>lands worldwide.<br />

The FSC certificate guarantees that forestry products have been harvested<br />

from rationally managed <strong>wood</strong>lands in accordance with FSC principles and<br />

criteria. These define the minimum levels required for the proper management<br />

of forests worldwide.<br />

Depending on the availability of products, L’Antic Colonial’s <strong>wood</strong> flooring<br />

comes with either a FSC or PEFC certificate, except for its Multiformato,<br />

Teka, Haya Metropolitan and Louvre models.<br />

AITIM is a private non-profit association made up of businesses from the<br />

<strong>wood</strong> industry.<br />

The association’s common goal is technical product development and product<br />

certification.<br />
