At Westminster, Concerning a Confession <strong>of</strong> Faith: with the Quotations and Text <strong>of</strong> Scripture<br />

Annexed. Presented by <strong>The</strong>m Lately to Both Houses <strong>of</strong> Parliament. No attempt is made to trace<br />

the various amendments leading to the text <strong>of</strong> 1958. <strong>The</strong> footnotes use the punctuation, spelling,<br />

and capitalization <strong>of</strong> 1647.<br />

On the organization <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Presbyterian</strong> Church in the United States in 1861, it adopted<br />

the Standards <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Presbyterian</strong> Church in the United States <strong>of</strong> America from which its<br />

constituents had withdrawn. <strong>The</strong> only amendment in the Confession since 1861, by this Church,<br />

has been in striking out the clause in Chapter XXIV, Section 4, making it unlawful to marry a<br />

deceased wife's sister.<br />
