Haryana<br />

Number <strong>of</strong> <strong>Soil</strong> Testing There are 32 STLs and 2 mobile STLs in the State.<br />

Laboratories<br />

Annual analyzing capacity Annual analyzing capacity <strong>of</strong> each static STL is 10,000<br />

soil samples and that <strong>of</strong> each MSTL is 5,000 samples.<br />

Capacity Utilizati<strong>on</strong> 90%<br />

Review <strong>of</strong> functi<strong>on</strong>ing Quality <strong>of</strong> analysis <strong>of</strong> all STLs is being m<strong>on</strong>itored by<br />

collecting 1% soil samples from all STLs which are<br />

checked in the Central/Nodal laboratory at Karnal.<br />

C<strong>on</strong>straints • There is a c<strong>on</strong>straint <strong>of</strong> manpower for which the<br />

State Govt. is initiating the process <strong>of</strong> filling up <strong>of</strong><br />

vacant posts and has allowed engagement <strong>of</strong> staff<br />

<strong>on</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tractual basis.<br />

• There are <strong>on</strong>e lakh hectares <strong>of</strong> saline soils in the<br />

State which need reclamati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

M<strong>on</strong>itoring M<strong>on</strong>itoring is d<strong>on</strong>e by Central Lab.<br />

Number <strong>of</strong> <strong>Soil</strong> <strong>Health</strong> Cards • On the basis <strong>of</strong> soil test reports, soil health cards<br />

issued<br />

with fertilizer use recommendati<strong>on</strong>s are provided<br />

to farmers free <strong>of</strong> cost. The cards are distributed<br />

through c<strong>on</strong>cerned ADOs <strong>of</strong> laboratory pers<strong>on</strong>ally<br />

and sometimes by organizing special camps.<br />

• So far 11.41 lakh SHCs have been distributed<br />

am<strong>on</strong>g the farmers. The State Govt. is committed<br />

to provide SHC to all 15.28 lac farmers in the<br />

State. The details <strong>of</strong> SHC and farmers data have<br />

been uploaded <strong>on</strong> the departmental website<br />

through which a farmer can print SHC.<br />

• To ensure that all farmers get SHCs, it is decided<br />

to collect 100 soil samples from each village with<br />

c<strong>on</strong>tact numbers <strong>of</strong> farmers and GPS locati<strong>on</strong>. This<br />

would c<strong>on</strong>tinue till all land holding are covered.<br />

Preparati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> soil fertility • GIS based district wise fertility maps are being<br />

prepared annually in which village level<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> is available.<br />

• Based <strong>on</strong> the village wise soil health cards, the<br />

<strong>Department</strong> is able to draw village level fertility<br />

maps and area specific policies are being framed<br />

to restore soil health.<br />
