Ro<strong>of</strong> Condensers - We note that the current design <strong>of</strong> the project requires the placement <strong>of</strong><br />
approximately 500 condensers on the ro<strong>of</strong> into to provide HVAC for the units. We agree with<br />
the placement <strong>of</strong> these units on the ro<strong>of</strong>, but are concerned that, without adequate ro<strong>of</strong>top<br />
screening, the condensers may be viewable from atop the apex <strong>of</strong> the South Van Dorn Street<br />
Bridge. Considering this will be the first major development that can be seen when traveling<br />
northbound on South Van Dorn Street and will set the tone for the rest <strong>of</strong> the redevelopment in<br />
the area, we strongly recommend that the <strong>City</strong> ensure the screening for the condensers shields<br />
them both from the street level as well as from the Van Dorn Street Bridge apex.<br />
Activating the Street -With the loss <strong>of</strong> ground level retail, it is our desire to ensure that the<br />
housing units facing South Pickett Street have active entrances in order to maintain pedestrian<br />
activity. Our experience in Cameron Station speaks to this desire. In our own community, the<br />
primary entrance for most <strong>of</strong> the homeowners is their garage, located in the exterior <strong>of</strong> the<br />
townhomes. This results in those owners only infrequently using their front entrance and, as a<br />
