the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Brother Everett Withers
The Mighty Psi Delta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. welcomes UNC alumni to the
2011 Black Alumni Reunion. Psi Delta was founded on February 16, 1973 on the campus of the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill by Brother Dr. Herbert Davis and Brother Dr. Paul
Woods (Omega Chapter), with the assistance of Brother John Scott. The Chapter initiated nine
Brothers on its charter line, “The Nasty Nine.” Psi Delta was the first Black Greek organization
chartered at UNC, which is a testament to the vision and determination of Brother Davis and
Brother Woods. Through the years, Psi Delta Brothers have exemplified the Cardinal Principles
of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift, and have excelled in varied careers including
academia, business, government, law, medicine, education, military and politics, among many
others. Psi Delta Brothers have also competed at the highest levels of athletics, including the
NFL and the NBA, and have left their mark on Hollywood by way of performing and writing.
Today, the Psi Delta Chapter strives to continue its tradition of leadership in campus life and in
the community at large.
