200 - 500 W Xe and Hg(Xe)
Oriel Research Sources
These sources deliver stable, low to medium power UV to NIR
radiation. They run selected 200 to 500 W Xe and Hg(Xe) lamps.
Xenon lamps emit a reasonably smooth continuum through the
UV-VIS and some high intensity lines in the NIR. They are good
broadband sources. Hg(Xe) lamps have the structure of Hg
lamps in the UV and the structure of Xe lamps in the NIR. These
sources consist of:
• Lamp Housing with a condenser and a built-in ignitor; see
page 111 for complete housing details
• 69911 Arc Lamp Power Supply; for complete specifications,
see page 114
• Your choice of lamp; see page 101 for lamp details
• All necessary cables and mounting hardware
450 - 1000 W Oriel Research Arc Lamp Sources
66924 Arc Lamp Source.
These high intensity, versatile arc lamp sources produce large,
collimated, UV-NIR CW radiation. Each source includes
everything needed to operate the lamp: lamp housing, ignitor,
power supply, cables and lamp mounting hardware. Optional
optical accessories such as liquid filters, dichroic mirrors, fiber
optics and safety shutters are available.
Which Sources Do I Choose?
We offer three condensing lens assemblies. The differences are:
• Spectral range
• Beam quality and collection efficiency
• Output beam size
• High power, large diameter, collimated output
• Run Hg, Xe and Hg(Xe) lamps rated from 450 to 1000 W
• Produce collimated or focused output
Safety Considerations
These sources emit very high intensity UV radiation. Exposure,
even for short periods, to ultraviolet can cause severe skin and
eye burns. Always wear protective eyewear, clothing, and gloves
when working around these sources, or enclose the beam path,
see page 246 for UV safety equipment.
Ozone is the other UV hazard. If you do not need output below
~260 nm, choose an ozone free lamp. If this is not an option
make sure you are in a well ventilated area and exhaust the
ozone to the outside with a Blower Kit (see page 248) or use our
Ozone Eater (see page 247).
