Queen’s Diamond Jubilee awarded
Sharron Beaton was nominated
as a recipient of the
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee
Medal as a result of her
dedication and involvement
in supporting international
students. Sharron was a
dedicated volunteer who
assisted countless
international students with
acclimatizing to Canadian
culture, and in this process
she assisted them with a
variety of needs, from cold
weather wear to religious
needs to social activities
such as opening her own
kitchen and home for
preparation in support of
the formerly held
international TGITs.
Sharron retired from the
RCAF, and was a food
service officer, a registered
dietician holding a Masters
Degree in Food and
Nutrition.

offert aux stagiaires
étrangers. Bénévole
dévouée, Mme Beaton a
aidé d’innombrables stagiaires
étrangers à s’acclimater
à la culture
canadienne, en répondant
à plusieurs de leurs
besoins, qui pouvaient
aller des vêtements
chauds aux pratiques
religieuses, en passant
par les activités sociales,
quand elle ouvrait
notamment sa cuisine et
sa maison en vue des
préparatifs des anciens
TGIT internationaux.
Mme Beaton, qui a une
maîtrise en alimentation
et nutrition, a été officier
des services d’alimentation
et diététicienne.
Elle est maintenant à la
retraite.

Second Career Assistance
Network (SCAN)

The Personnel Selection Office
(BPSO) will be hosting the biannual
Second Career Assistance
Network (SCAN) seminar from the 5th to
the 7th of March 2013. The seminar will
run from 0800-1200 and 1300-1600 daily
at the Canadian Forces Health Services
Training Centre (CFHSTC) Auditorium,
Bldg 0-166.
This seminar is designed to assist personnel
in making a smooth transition from
the military to the civilian sector. Topics
will include financial planning, general
and medical release procedures, pension
benefits, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)
services, continuing education, education
reimbursement and transition services.

Le Bureau de la sélection du personnel
(BSP) tiendra son colloque
semestriel sur le Service
de préparation à une seconde carrière
(SPSC) du 05 au 07 mars prochains, de 8
h à 12 h et de 13 h à 16 h, à l’auditorium
de Centre d'instruction des Services de
santé des Forces canadiennes (CISSFC),
bâtiment 0-166.
Ce colloque, qui a pour objet d’aider
les militaires concernés à effectuer une
transition harmonieuse à une carrière dans
le civil, porte notamment sur la planification
financière, les modalités de libération,
y compris pour des raisons médicales, les
prestations de retraite, les services offerts
par Anciens Combattants Canada (ACC),
Personnel preparing to leave the
Canadian Forces in the next five years or
being medically released and their spouses
are strongly encouraged to attend. The
dress will be appropriate civilian attire.
