PTO Overview Concept Pulse Train Output (PTO) The PTO is used for simple positioning tasks. The XBTGC HMI Controller has up to four embedded PTO outputs that can be activated for PTO mode to control independent axes without interpolation. The PTO function is used to control drives, as shown in the figure below: A pulse profile can be used to control a motor through a simple ramp up, run, and ramp down sequence. The position loop is integrated into the servo-drive. PTO Characteristics The following table shows the general characteristics of the PTO function: PTO Commands Characteristic Specifications Max. number of PTO 4 Initial Frequency 10 Hz Frequency range 10...65000 (Hz) Max. number of pulses 2,147,483,647 (231-1) Acceleration and deceleration time 0...65535 ms The HMI_PTOSimple function block manages the PTO Motion Commands are managed by two function blocks: HMI_PTOMoveRelative (see page 32) HMI_PTOStop (see page 35) Adjustment commands are managed by two function blocks: HMI_PTOGetParam (see page 38) HMI_PTOSetParam (see page 40) Diagnostic commands are managed by a single function block: HMI_PTOGetDiag (see page 42) 04/2012 27
