WORKING WHILE BLACK: A BLACK PERSON’S<br />
GUIDE TO SUCCESS IN <strong>THE</strong> WORKPLACE<br />

This workshop, presented by the Pan African <strong>Student</strong> Resource<br />
Center and S.T.A.R.S. Mentor Program, will offer straight forward<br />
and practical advice for African Americans. Michelle Johnson,<br />
author of Working While Black, leads discussion on the tensions<br />
and pitfalls of working in an office that may not be inclusive or<br />
validating for African Americans. The <strong>University</strong> Bookstore will<br />
have copies of the book for sale before and during the event.<br />

Pamela Samuels Young is a full-time attorney and author, whose<br />
Los Angeles-based legal thrillers feature a multicultural cast of<br />
characters on all sides of the law. She discusses the themes<br />
in her four novels, Every Reasonable Doubt, In Firm Pursuit,<br />
Murder on the Down Low, and Buying Time, and how she<br />
balances dual careers in the courtroom and in publishing. The<br />
<strong>University</strong> Bookstore will have copies of the books for sale before<br />
and during the event.<br />
FREE CONFIDENTIAL RAPID HIV TESTING<br />
RESULTS IN 30 MINUTES!<br />

The <strong>Student</strong> Health Center offers traditional confidential HIV<br />
testing Monday – Friday by appointment, but if you’re looking for<br />
free rapid testing stop by. The testing is provided by the Charles<br />
R. Drew <strong>University</strong> of Medicine and Science Mobile HIV Testing<br />
Unit (funded by the Office of AIDS Programs and Policy, Los Angeles<br />
County Department of Health Services). It is available for students,<br />
faculty, and staff. This service is offered on a walk-in, first come-first<br />
served basis. Wait time is approximately 30 minutes.<br />
GRADFAIR<br />
10 AM – 7 PM, Eagles Nest Gymnasium<br />
If you’re graduating in June <strong>2010</strong>, stop by GradFair to pick up<br />
all your materials for the upcoming <strong>University</strong> Commencement<br />
season. Additionally, information will be available on the Cultural<br />
Grad Celebrations (Asian Pacific, Black, Gay & Lesbian Pride,<br />
