Tech Talk
Les Bowles discussed the issues with buying tires for our
cars. The tires may be “new” as “never driven on the
road” but they may be 7 or more years old and have been
sitting in a warehouse. When you buy tires make sure the
salesman shows you the date code that is molded in the
inside tire wall. Buyer beware!!!! Remember there is not
much call for 14” tires so not many are being made!!
Be careful about buying tires over the internet from
companies like Tire Rack since you can’t look at the tire
for the manufactured date yourself. Always ask them to
provide the dates BEFORE you purchase.
Thanks Les for the Tech talk subject.
April Meeting
April NTOC monthly meeting will be held at 2:00 pm at
the Bath House at White Rock Lake. See information with
maps dates and time in this issue of the Rocket.
Australian Visitors
We discussed Bob Scafi di who lives in Australia. Bob
will be in the Ft. Worth area in August this year. He has
contacted Chris Dreiling and me to see if we could let him
know about the car related activities in this area while he
and his family are in town. We believe that he will be here
during the weekend of our meeting and are trying to see
that we give him a Texas style welcome.
THANKS CHRIS!!!!
President Chris Dreiling closed his last meeting at 3:45
pm and the NTOC members gave Chris a big round of
applause for his leadership over the past year.
TRIP TO EMERALD BAY - May 8th 2010
Have you ever seen the beauty of east Texas in the spring, especially the Tyler area (rose capitol of the U.S.). Well, we
have planned a day or weekend (your choice) to Emerald Bay on Lake Palestine to view a private collection of cars,
approx. 45, in a museum setting owned by a resident of this community. The collection I have been told can only be
viewed by invitation and the cars from different periods are displayed with mannequins properly dressed for their time
period. The owner’s wife does all the displays. It sounds to be a trip worth taking and I am sure all will enjoy. We plan
to leave Dallas early so that we will have the day to view the cars and enjoy the company of our fellow club members.
Since this is by private invitation, all who want to attend and even those who are giving it some thought, it will be
necessary to get your name on the list for entrance to Emerald Bay. More details will be provided.
