MUNGENAST & TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLE MUSEUMS CRUISE
Saturday, June 9, 2012, cruise director Larry Lester led us from the normal gathering spot at Watson and
Lindbergh to the Dave Mungenast Motorcycle Museum on Gravois. After viewing some awesome vintage
bikes, we were on our way to the Triumph Motorcycle Museum and Grill near Saint Louis University just east
of Grand. There we checked out some more vintage bikes as well as new Triumphs and Ducatis, and some
great food. The list of attendees included Joe Marino in his striking red 246 Dino replica, Larry and Betty
Lester in their pristine Marlene, Joe Messler drove his vintage 1927 Bugatti Type 35, Frank and Sally Garamella
brought their 1929 Mercedes CMC Gazelle, Andre Garamella and Mary came in his 1952 MGTD, and Laura
Zoroya and I drove a Midstates Cobra. Here are some shots of our excursion:
HAZELWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH CAR SHOW
On Saturday, June 16, 2012, Mike Woodard directed what has come to be one of the best car shows we
attend. As usual, it was well attended. Also as usual, the hospitality of the congregation was unsurpassed.
Imagine checking out one cool car after another while young people offered to get you soda, hot dogs,
hamburgers and funnel cakes! Ummm…Did I say they had funnel cakes?
Mike, son Jamie and his medium blue, high performance B&B Cobra roadster were first on the scene to
establish the club area with a canopy. Joe Marino brought his outstanding V8 powered Ferrari Dino. Andre
Garamella, Tammy and Mary were there in his brown and tan FiberFab 1952 MG-TD, while Frank Garamella
drove his brown and tan CMC 1929 Mercedes Gazelle. I drove a blue Brunton Stalker 1962 Lotus Seven. Also
stopping by to check out the show were members Greg Sacks, Joe Messler, Gary Woods and friend Rich
Thomas. The hot afternoon gave way to some sprinkles that only cooled things off and felt good. Many prizes
were distributed by the Church and a good time was had by all. Check out these pictures.
PRESIDENT DON SHANK’S BUGATTI FOR SALE
Here’s your chance to own some history. Our Founder, CEO, President, Grand PooBa, and all around terrific
guy, has decided to sell his pride and joy. For those not familiar, Don’s car is not a kit. He handcrafted the car
without the help of a kit. Every piece has been lovingly and accurately hand formed with the use of wooden
bucks, fiberglas, polyurethane foam, steel and aluminum. All this is the reason that Don’s 1932 Bugatti Type
55 has been featured in both Kit Car and Kit Car Illustrated magazines. Don used a 1972 Ford Pinto 4 cylinder
engine for easy maintenance, coupled to a 3-speed automatic transmission for ease of driving. The fit and
finish is without equal.
As for price, Don has indicated “make offer”. This could be the chance of a lifetime. Please contact Don for
particulars at (618) 344-5698, shankt55@aol.com . Home address: #19 Red Rose Drive, Collinsville, IL 62234.
