research institutes, technology centres and universities dealing with<br />

Enhance the presence of scientists, experts, researchers from Developing<br />
Countries in research programme/projects within nanotechnology<br />
institutions based in both Industrialized and Developing Countries<br />
Capacity to create innovative products through the application, adaption<br />
and development of nanotechnologies to address local needs and<br />
international markets<br />

ICS has recognized the enormous potentiality that the nanotechnologies could<br />
represent for the Developing Countries as instrument of their growth; therefore an<br />
ad hoc multiyear programme will be carried out by the HTNM Area, with the<br />
objective of<br />
1. promoting and implementing joint research projects and training of scientists,<br />
trainers and researchers in applied nanotechnologies,<br />
2. promoting partnerships between academia and industry to advance and implement<br />
nanotechnology for economic development,<br />
3. supporting and promotion of cooperation between scientific and technological<br />
research centres and industry through the establishment/upgrading of innovation<br />
centres and their linkages with international network as well as the extensive use<br />
of ad hoc funds and financial incentives<br />
4. assessing nanotechnology and the concerned potential risks associate with their<br />
development and use<br />
5. North-South and South-South networking to share and promote<br />
technologies/methodologies.<br />
