SChauMBuRg REgional aiRPoRT<br />

The Schaumburg Regional Airport has been owned and operated by the Village<br />

of Schaumburg since 1994, but has been operating as an “official” airport since<br />

1959. The airport is home to numerous businesses including a restaurant, aircraft<br />

charter, aircraft rental, flight training, maintenance and all of the local television<br />

news gathering helicopters. Various public events are held at the airport each<br />

year, including: Aviation Days, an annual Ronald McDonald House Charity Event,<br />

Experimental Aircraft Association’s Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast and a visit<br />

SChauMBuRg METRa TRain STaTion<br />

The Schaumburg Commuter Rail Facility is located on Springinsguth Road<br />

south of Irving Park Road. The 1,268 parking spots are divided between Daily<br />

and Monthly Permit parking. This facility is also served by morning and evening<br />

DART will get you to work, shopping, and entertainment destinations within<br />

Schaumburg. When you want a ride, just call 90 minutes prior to your desired<br />

pick-up time and a bus will be routed to pick you up and take you anywhere<br />

within Schaumburg. Other passengers are picked-up and dropped-off along<br />

the way. You can expect to be on the bus up to 45 minutes in addition to the<br />

advance reservation time.<br />

Service is available six days per week: Monday-Friday between 6:00 a.m. and<br />

9:30 p.m., and on Saturdays 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. There is no service available<br />

on Sundays or holidays. Full fares are only $1.60 each way, exact fare required,<br />

and $0.80 for senior citizens 65 years of age and older, disabled persons with an<br />

RTA Special User Card, students through Grade 12 going to and from school,<br />

and children ages 7 to 11. Children under 7 are free if accompanied by an adult.<br />

SChauMBuRg’S WoodfiEld TRollEY<br />

Use Schaumburg’s Woodfield Trolley all year round and not just during the<br />

holiday shopping season. Park once and take the trolley the rest of the day. The<br />

service is FREE and operates to 12 Woodfield area destinations. Service operates<br />

from noon to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday – Approximately every 33-37<br />

minutes. 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays – Approximately every 15 minutes.<br />

11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays – Approximately every 20 minutes. Call 847-<br />

lunChTiME ShoPPERS ShuTTlE<br />

If you work in the Woodfield area and want to go shopping during your lunch<br />

hour, avoid parking hassles by using the Lunchtime Shoppers Shuttle. The<br />

shuttle offers expedient service from select Woodfield area office buildings to<br />

both Woodfield and Streets of Woodfield. Buses run approximately every 10<br />

minutes between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Mondays - Fridays along Martingale<br />

Road, Golf Road and Woodfield Road. Stop locations include: Woodfield<br />

Preserve, Windy Point, Zurich Towers, and Schaumburg Corporate Center. Fares<br />

RouTE 602<br />

Look out for exciting changes coming to Village of Schaumburg’s Commuter<br />

Connections at the Metra Station. Leave the car at home and use Pace Route<br />

602 to ride to Schaumburg’s Metra Commuter Station. Route 602 provides<br />

weekday rush hour service to meet Chicago bound Metra trains at 6:12 a.m. and<br />

7:17 a.m. On the return trip, buses meet trains departing Chicago at 4:20 p.m.<br />

(arriving in Schaumburg at 5:12 p.m.) and 5:17 p.m. (arriving in Schaumburg at<br />

5:58 p.m.).<br />

Reduced fares for $0.60 are available for children (ages 7-11), students traveling<br />

to and from school, senior citizens (65 years of age and older), and persons with<br />

RouTE 554<br />

Route 554 provides eastbound morning service between the Elgin Metra<br />

terminal and the Northwest Transportation Center in Schaumburg. Using<br />

Route 554 is a convenient and easy way to get to the Woodfield area with<br />

morning eastbound travel and evening westbound service. The bus will stop<br />

upon signal to the driver at any intersection along the route where it is safe to<br />

do so.<br />

Reduced fares for $0.75 are available for children (ages 7-11), students traveling<br />

to and from school, senior citizens (65 years of age and older), and persons with<br />

REgional TRanSPoRTaTion auThoRiTY (RTa’S)<br />

PEoPlE WiTh diSaBiliTiES RidE fREE PRogRaM<br />

The RTA is partnered with the Illinois Department on Aging to implement the<br />

People with Disabilities Ride Free program. The new legislation provides free<br />

rides on fixed-route transit (regularly scheduled CTA, Metra, and Pace buses<br />

and trains) to be made available to any Illinois resident who have been enrolled<br />

as a person with a disability in the Illinois Circuit Breaker program. Only those<br />

enrolled in the Illinois Circuit Breaker program are eligible. The People with<br />

Disabilities Ride Free Program for the RTA goes into effect on October 24, 2008.<br />

PaCE<br />

The suburban bus division of the Regional Transportation Authority is known<br />

as PACE. PACE operates Village of Schaumburg co-sponsored routes including<br />

routes 554 and 602, plus several other routes including 600, 606, 696, 699, 757<br />

and 208 that connect to communities beyond Schaumburg through PACE’s<br />

Northwest Transportation Center at Martingale Road and Kimberly Drive. For<br />

SChauMBuRg iS a BiCYClE fRiEndlY CoMMuniTY<br />

There are over 86 miles of on and off-street designated bike paths in<br />

Schaumburg. As awarded by the League of American Bicyclists, Village of<br />

Schaumburg is one of only 73 communities nationwide to have received a<br />

“Bicycle Friendly Community” designation. This award recognizes municipalities<br />

that actively support bicycling. A Bicycle Friendly Community is defined as<br />

providing safe accommodation for cycling and encourages its residents to bike<br />

for transportation and recreation.<br />

Village of Schaumburg also sponsors events such as the Fahrrad Tour von<br />

Schaumburg and Bike to Work Day each year in addition to programs like the<br />

Adopt-A-Bike Path Program to encourage and promote bicycling. Call<br />

SChauMBuRg BikE CluB (SBC)<br />

To expand your cycling opportunities even further, consider joining the<br />

Schaumburg Bicycle Club (SBC). SBC welcomes members of all age groups and<br />

skill levels to join in rides along one of Schaumburg’s paths, through local<br />

forest preserves, or even extended combination cycling/camping trips. For<br />
