P.A.L. Program<br />
<strong>Cranford</strong> <strong>Police</strong> Athletic League<br />
Program Director, Kevin Murray, led the<br />
program, participating in the Central Jersey<br />
Wrestling League and the Passaic County<br />
Wrestling League as well as the Middle School<br />
Wrestling Program.<br />
The track program was held at Memorial Field.<br />
The program is under the direction of Tim Styler<br />
from the Westfield Running Company. There<br />
were over 60 participants in the program. The<br />
flag football program, directed by Jim<br />
Kwiatowski, <strong>com</strong>pleted its eleventh year. There<br />
were over 80 1 st and 2 nd grade athletes involved<br />
in the program. The flag football program<br />
continues to fuel the football program, year to<br />
year.<br />
The flag rugby program is co-sponsored by the<br />
PAL and the Union County Rugby Football Club.<br />
The season runs from June through July with<br />
games on Saturdays at Unami Park.<br />
The PAL again sponsored teams in the <strong>Cranford</strong><br />
Baseball/Softball League, as well as supporting<br />
the Booster Club, Hillside Ave. School PTA,<br />
Project Graduation, CHS Student lock-in, The St.<br />
Michael’s Feast and The CAT Fund.<br />
The P.A.L. also continued to support the<br />
Scholarship Fund it created in 2007. The fund<br />
was created in memory of Retired UCPO Lt. and<br />
long time <strong>Cranford</strong> resident/ PAL Board Member<br />
Lt. Glenn Owens. The Glenn Owens Scholarship<br />
is awarded to a <strong>Cranford</strong> High School student,<br />
that participated in a PAL program. The amount<br />
of the scholarship is $500 for each award. The<br />
<strong>2011</strong> scholarships were awarded to Sean<br />
Wheatley and Brianna Capece.<br />
