Patrol Division<br />
<strong>Cranford</strong> <strong>Police</strong> <strong>Department</strong> Patrol Division<br />
The Patrol Division is the backbone of the<br />
<strong>Cranford</strong> <strong>Police</strong> <strong>Department</strong>. It is manned by<br />
more officers than any other division within the<br />
department. The Division’s preventive and<br />
proactive patrol efforts contribute toward safe<br />
streets and neighborhoods allowing the<br />
residents of <strong>Cranford</strong> to enjoy walking and<br />
cycling in <strong>com</strong>plete confidence. Personal safety<br />
and property security are a paramount<br />
importance in guiding our efforts to preserve<br />
public tranquility.<br />
The Patrol Division is under the <strong>com</strong>mand of<br />
Captain John Baer. He is assisted by Lieutenants<br />
Robert Colaneri and Stephen Wilde, who each<br />
<strong>com</strong>mand a platoon. They are assisted by<br />
Anthony Dobbins, Thomas Feeney, Guy<br />
Patterson, and Frank Williams who are in charge<br />
of the four division squads. Eugene Perrotta was<br />
assigned to the Patrol Division as well in <strong>2011</strong> for<br />
training after his promotion in February.<br />
There were a total of 55,322 incidents reported<br />
to the <strong>Cranford</strong> <strong>Police</strong> <strong>Department</strong> during <strong>2011</strong>.<br />
These total incidents are broken down as<br />
follows:<br />
9,097 calls for criminal related activity, including:<br />
1,664 calls reporting burglary/trespass/alarm<br />
2,551 calls reporting disorderly conduct<br />
398 calls reporting thefts/stolen property<br />
329 calls reporting vandalism/malicious damage<br />
420 calls reporting warrant arrests<br />
18,871 calls for traffic related activity, including:<br />
895 calls reporting motor vehicle accidents<br />
5,383 calls reporting selective enforcement<br />
assignments<br />
8,831 calls reporting motor vehicle violation<br />
investigations resulting in warnings/<br />
summonses<br />
22,358 calls requesting public service, including:<br />
2,137 medical assistance requests<br />
15,217 building examinations and public<br />
transportation inspections<br />
291 requests for assistance with vehicle/house<br />
lock-outs<br />
4,996 administrative assignments, including:<br />
282 <strong>Police</strong> Auxiliary/Explorer details<br />
977 In-Service/L.E.T.N. training<br />
