NEW KICKS FOR OUR RALLIART SPORTBACK
As any tuner can tell you, a good
wheel set is the quintessential
modification, capable of either
making or breaking a build. With
this in mind we made sure we didn’t
slouch on our wheel selection and decided to go with
one of the best known, oldest and highest quality
brands in our market: SSR.
The SSR Type-F is a relatively new wheel and
is constructed by their patented SSF (semi-solid
forged) process which is essentially a specially
produced squeeze manufacturing. This provides a
very strong and lightweight wheel, approaching the
traits of an upper echelon forged monoblock, for
much less money.
Our new rollers look great in a nice gold metallic
finish that isn’t quite flat but definitely doesn’t have
the cheesy high-luster clear look either. We didn’t
want to run something so extreme that we would
have to do fender mods to get the wheels on the car
so we stayed a little on the conservative side with
modest sizing of 19X8.5” with +42 offset all around.
To keep the car planted we chose Toyo T1R tires
in 245/35ZR19 sizing for our sportback. These tires
will provide plenty of grip and tread wear and make
an excellent daily tire with potential for track time
further down the line. We’re definitely excited to get
our wheel and tire package on the car and begin the
transformation. Stay tuned as we take our Ralliart
from super stock to Super Street.
