7.2.2.3 Adjectives<br />

Adjectives encompass common adjectives (class ACx) as well as cardinal<br />

(ANk) and ordinal (ANo) numerals, see 7.2.2.4. Common adjectives are<br />

marked for inflection in degree (positive, comparative, superlative, or absolute<br />

superlative), gender (common/neuter), number (singular/plural), case<br />

(genitive/unmarked), and definiteness (definite/indefinite). <strong>The</strong> transcategorization<br />

marker (adverbial/unmarked) that PAROLE uses is transferred to<br />

a function classifier in ePOS. All common adjectives that are not inflected<br />

in the comparative, superlative, or absolute superlative (aller-) forms are by<br />

default marked as being positive. Adjectives that do not inflect according<br />

to gender, number, and/or definiteness are marked with an x meaning all<br />

their potential morphol<strong>og</strong>ical values. Adjectives with ‘nominal’ usage can<br />
