Taekman’s Technology
Thursday Office Hours
Jeff Taekman, MD
As you know, I’m a lifelong computer aficionado–
having started my work with computers in 1973.
Over the years, I have spent tens of thousands
of hours working with and integrating computers
(and more recently iOS devices) into my
personal and professional life. I’m constantly
asked how I use technology. I’ve decided to
formally schedule a time for these discussions.
Twice a month (on Thursday afternoons) I will
open my doors for faculty, residents, nurses,
staff, and others to discuss the use of technology–how to streamline
workflows, what programs should you use at work (or at home), and/or
brainstorming on new projects you would like to undertake.
I’m going to start with two 30 minute slots starting this Thursday and
then 4–5p on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. I may expand
Duke Anesthesiology Excellence at SOAP
The 44th Society for Obstetric Anesthesiology and Perinatology Annual
Meeting was held May 2-5 in Monterey, CA. Four of our residents
presented at SOAP this year: Drs. Miles Berger, Torijaun Dallas, Rebecca
Klinger and Shannon Tew. Two of our residents won awards for their
presentations. Dr. Klinger won 3rd place for her original research on TAP
Blocks for Analgesia after Cesarean Delivery. Dr. Dallas won 2nd place
for his case reports on Ultrasound-Guided Labor Epidural for a Parturient
with Metastic Spinal Leiomyosarcoma. Congratulations to all four of our
residents for representing the department so well!
