Acknowledgments
Many individuals helped to create the database and HTML catalogs from which
this catalog was derived. I particularly want to the acknowledge the tireless efforts of
two students who worked on the catalog: Michael Taylor and Amy Tyra. Further, I wish
to express my appreciation to Penny Counterman and Dennis Vetrovec, staff members of
the Department of Rare Books and Special Collections, who either revised database
entries or did the initial proofreading of the online catalogs.
Michael Taylor was particularly helpful in proofing my edited copies. And he
and Dennis Vetrovec made one last dash through title page photocopies to confirm that
all authors not explicitly identified on the title pages were appropriately indicated in this
catalog.
Meanwhile, I must take all responsibility for the design of the catalog and its
content. I have spent a number of weeks reconciling inconsistencies and correcting errors
of fact, interpretation, and similar matters. But without my staff and students having
done the brunt of the compilation work, I would not have been able to complete this
